This cherry wood ornament would be a perfect gift for a new homeowner! The ornament is made using pictures sent to me of the house, which I trace the outline and details of. The ornament will measure approximately 4 inches across and it comes in a presentation box with custom text printed on the lid. In addition to being a visually striking detail, the box is also a convenient place to safely store the ornament between holiday seasons.

After ordering, please send me at least one image of the house that you'd like to have traced. If there is a tree or something else in the way of some details on the house, please make sure to send an extra picture or two from a different angle to make sure I see the obscured details, otherwise I'd have to guess what is behind it. I will generally avoid showing any vegetation unless specifically requested otherwise so if you want to feature the bushes or similar in front of the house, please mention it to me. Also make sure to mention the writing you'd like on the box because I can't print on the box if I don't know what to put on it!

If you indicate when ordering that you'd like to review the design before I make it, I'll send it to you a day before I cut it out. If I don't hear from you within 24 hours I'll just assume it looks good and move forward with manufacturing the ornament.

My biggest priority is to make sure that you are ordering something that you think is perfect; if you would prefer to see the design before ordering, please feel free to contact me and I'd be happy to draw it up for you. It would bum me out if you receive something that you aren't happy with because you were nervous to contact me about it, so trust me when I say I am happy to help. :)

The ornament will be a max length of 4 inches and a max width of 3 inches. If your house is roughly equal in height as it is in length then the max size I'll make it is 3 inches by 3 inches, but the vast majority of houses will be 4 inches in one direction. I can cut out the front door on the house like seen in the sample pictures, but will only do so if specifically requested. It is a neat detail on very large houses in which the door is small relative to the rest of the house, but on smaller houses it doesn't look very good. Feel free to contact me about your house if you aren't sure and I'd be happy to give my honest opinion if I think it'd look good.

The ornament is made from cherry wood that is sourced from street trees in the western Michigan area that have been removed due to construction or storm damage -- not their timber value. After I pick out the wood at the sawmill, I personally process it through a long series of planing and sawing steps, and I finally laser cut it and apply a hand-rubbed oil finish. Because wood is a natural material, there is some variation in the wood grain and color therefore no two ornaments will ever be exactly alike.
