Custom Heartbeat Keychain - Personalized Heart Beat Soundwave Keyring - Sound Wave Walnut Wood Keyfob

This engraved walnut keychain makes for a wonderful personalized gift! The example shown is my cat's heartbeat that I generated from a recording with some Python code, but I could also make it from the image of an ECG or from an image of the heartbeat on a sonogram.

The back of the keychain can also be custom engraved with a birthdate, coordinates, or any other text or numbers.

The wood part of the keychain measures approximately 2.25" by 0.75". The walnut wood is sourced from street trees in the western Michigan area that have been removed due to construction or storm damage -- not their timber value. After I pick out the wood at the sawmill, I personally process it through a long series of planing and sawing steps, and I finally laser cut it and apply a hand-rubbed oil finish.

Because wood is a natural material, there is some variation in the wood grain and color therefore no two keychains will ever be exactly alike. Several examples are shown to illustrate some differences you might see in the walnut wood grain.

**How to send me the heartbeat for engraving**

If you have an image of it from an ECG readout or from a sonogram, you can attach it in a message to me on Etsy. If you have a recording, please use an online source (or an app) to convert it to an image then send that image to me on Etsy. I cannot vouch for any particular service for this but there is an abundance of them if you search a popular search engine with these terms: "soundwave to image converter".

Having said that, my biggest priority is making sure that what you purchase is exactly what you are looking for, so please feel free to message me with your ideas and I'd be happy to draw up the design for you before you order. If you do not yet have an image of the soundwave, I have my cat's heartbeat as a stock image that I am happy to share and use for design proofs -- and Jasper assures me that he purr's at the idea. --Can the engraved soundwave be converted back into audio with an app?

Unfortunately no it cannot. The amount of detail needed is far finer than can be engraved onto a wood keychain even for a one second long recording. Think about how large a vinyl record has to be and despite the size, the grooves are so small that they are barely visible. A good solution is to have the words spoken in the recording engraved on the back, or even have the URL of a recording engraved on the back.

--How can I send the audio file to you?

I need you to send the already converted soundwave image. I cannot use signal filters to take the heartbeat out of a noisy recording, nor can I pick out certain words from a long video. For privacy's sake, as a policy I never watch or listen to recordings, and the only way to guarantee that is by only relying upon images that get sent to me.

--Can you engrave a song from a YouTube video or a link to a music website?

I would be happy to engrave a song but only if you send me the converted image of the recording. It is copyright infringement if I source it myself because it is implying that I own commercial rights to the music -- which I do not -- even if I am merely making an image of it.

--Is there a maximum recording length that can be engraved?

Any length of recording can be used. The thing to remember though is that the longer the recording is, the less visual 'movement' there is in the recording. That is especially important for spoken words; if a short phrase is spoken, the cadence of the speech is clearly visible and you can almost 'hear' it just by looking at it (if you know what is being said of course).
