This cherry wood ornament would be a perfect gift for a new homeowner! It would also be a great way to celebrate a marriage or graduation, or to commemorate a memorable vacation there, or even to celebrate a new baby's first Christmas. I can make it with any location so don't be concerned if your desired city isn't shown in the pictures.

The writing shown is merely a suggestion and can be customized however you like, and a heart or star can be cut out at a location if you desire. A personalized message can similarly be engraved on the back of the ornament at no extra charge. When ordering, please leave a detailed description of the writing that you would like, the city and state, and any other details in a note to the seller.

My biggest priority is to make sure that you are ordering something that you think is perfect; if you would prefer to see the design before ordering, please feel free to contact me and I'd be happy to draw it up for you. The ornament measures 3 inches from top to bottom and it comes in a gift box as shown in the pictures, which is also a convenient place to safely store the ornament between holiday seasons. The cherry wood is sourced from street trees in the western Michigan area that have been removed due to construction or storm damage -- not their timber value. After I pick out the wood at the sawmill, I personally process it through a long series of planing and sawing steps, and I finally laser cut it and apply a hand-rubbed oil finish.

Because wood is a natural material, there is some variation in the wood grain and color therefore no two ornaments will ever be exactly alike. A couple of different examples are shown in the pictures to illustrate some possible color and wood grain variations.

Utilizing yard trees for wood is one of the most eco-friendly and sustainable ways to source lumber as it does not contribute to deforestation or environmental destruction. It also gives a positive outcome for trees that are lost due to disease, pests, or construction, and gives additional positive value to the urban forest. Making a conscious decision to purchase products made from urban wood is a way of showing support for the urban forest and local craftsman.
