This necklace is made in the USA by me. I personally pick out rough lumber at a sawmill in Missouri which sources lumber only from urban trees that have been removed due to storm damage or construction, and I personally do every step of the processing afterwards. This long series of jointing, planing, and bandsawing operations results in wood that is made exactly to my specifications. While it is more effort than buying birch plywood or alder wood, it is totally worth it. The warm depth and richness of solid cherry wood is completely natural, and because it is sourced from salvaged street trees it is also sustainable!
The wood measures approximately 2 inches tall and 1 inch wide. It is protected with food grade mineral oil which can be reapplied at any point if it starts looking dirty or worn. The chain is antique style bronze and is available in several lengths. The whole thing comes at no extra charge in the gift box shown in the pictures.
If you like the appearance of this necklace but would prefer another lake, please feel free to contact me. The shape of many lakes are very doable, but highly serpentine lakes (especially man-made reservoirs) would be far too delicate to be cutout like the one shown. I'd be happy to take a look at the lake shape and let you know if it is doable, and offer suggestions for other ways I can engrave the lake outline if the lake is too serpentine to be cutout.

Utilizing yard trees for wood is one of the most eco-friendly and sustainable ways to source lumber as it does not contribute to deforestation or environmental destruction. It also gives a positive outcome for trees that are lost due to disease, pests, or construction, and gives additional positive value to the urban forest. Making a conscious decision to purchase products made from urban wood is a way of showing support for the urban forest and local craftsman.
