Custom wooden paper snowflake ornament made in the USA -- personalized keepsake ornament -- kindergarten -- preschool --

This ornament is meant to turn the memorable but delicate paper snowflakes frequently made by children into a long lasting keepsake. All I need is a photograph of a paper snowflake and I will trace it and make a wooden copy out of solid hardwood. The photograph is easily attached to a message to me. The ornament will be approximately 3 inches across, and it comes by default in a gift box that is also useful for safely storing the ornament between holiday seasons.

The paper snowflake can have any of the common number of points. The ones shown have six points like a real snowflake would, but I recall when I was a child we frequently made them with four points because they are easier to fold. When I am making the design I typically will trace the point that is photographed the most clearly then copy it around the design. Doing so makes the snowflake symmetrical, so even one that isn't quite symmetrical due to imprecise folding or scissor cutting will turn out looking good.

I can also engrave text on the snowflake if desired with perhaps the snowflake maker's name and the year, or anything else that is desired. The ornament is made from solid cherry wood. I personally process rough-from-the-sawmill cherry lumber into laser-ready wood through a series of planing, jointing, and resawing steps in my wood shop in Oklahoma, and then I laser engrave and cut the wood at my residence in Houston. While it is labor intensive to process solid cherry into wood that can be laser cut, the effort is definitely worth it. The appearance of a solid hardwood is far better than something like birch plywood or alder wood, and cherry wood will eventually darken to a rich orange color. Additionally, the cherry wood is sourced from a sawmill in western Michigan that produces lumber exclusively using street trees that have been removed due to construction or storm damage. I strongly believe in what they do and my dream is to open a similar operation myself!
