This ornament has the shape of Lake Tahoe cut out of it. Because the lake outline is cut out, light readily shines through the lake outline which gives it a really unique appearance in my opinion. It is also made from solid cherry wood; while it is labor intensive to process solid cherry into wood that can be laser cut, the effort is definitely worth it. The appearance of a solid hardwood is far better than something like birch plywood or alder wood, and additionally cherry wood is noted for it's deepening color over time; while it starts out light, cherry eventually will darken into a warm orange color. Additionally, the cherry wood is sourced from a sawmill in western Michigan that produces lumber exclusively using street trees that have been removed due to construction or storm damage. I strongly believe in what they do and my dream is to open a similar operation myself!

The default ornament simply says "Lake Tahoe". I would be happy to customize it however. One idea would be if you own a lake house, you could have something like "The Eastons" as the text a star engraved at the address of the house. Or to commemorate a wedding, the text could be the bride and groom's names and the year, and a heart cut out at the wedding location. Even something whimsical like "Wish I were fishing at Lake Tahoe!" would be doable. The wood measures 3 inches across. It comes at no extra charge in a gift box as shown in the pictures, which is also useful for storing the ornament for the next holiday season. The wood is protected with food safe cutting board oil.
