This necklace is made from solid wood and can be customized however you like. The necklace comes at no charge in a gift box as shown in the second photo (that photo shows a separate listing but the necklace would be similarly packaged). I can also do a double sided necklace with for example a quote or name or coordinates on the other side. See the last two pictures for examples.

When placing your order, just make a note to me listing the date and initials you prefer. I can also do a different formatting of date, put a heart between the initials, or really customize it however you would like it.

The wood piece measures 2" x 3/8". The wood is sourced from urban trees cut due to circumstance, whether disease, construction, or nuisance -- not from trees cut for their timber value. It is currently available in black cherry wood from yard trees in western Michigan, Missouri. The wood is protected with food safe cutting board oil. Additional mineral oil can be applied at any time if the wood starts looking dry. The chain is available in a variety of lengths.

Utilizing yard trees for wood is one of the most eco-friendly and sustainable ways to source lumber as it does not contribute to deforestation or environmental destruction. It also gives a positive outcome for trees that are lost due to disease, pests, or construction, and gives additional positive value to the urban forest. Making a conscious decision to purchase products made from urban wood is a way of showing support for the urban forest and local craftsman.
