Custom Braille Necklace - Braille Jewelry - Braille Pendant - Personalized Braille

The braille dots on this necklace are cut all the way through the wood, rather than being raised as is traditional. It gives the necklace a very unique appearance because light easily passes through the holes. It is worth noting that the holes are a bit harder to feel than raised braille; if this item is intended to be functional for a blind person, please either mention it to me or order the raised dot version that is also available on my shop page.

The necklace comes at no charge in a gift box as shown in the second photo. I can also provide the necklace as two separate wood pieces as shown in the photo with the gift box. The multiple wood pieces hang together and look almost like a tassel, which combined with the braille makes it very unique in appearance.

The example braille message shown says "Noah & Simon", referring to my dear 18 year old cat, but the braille message can be completely customized to be names, dates, or virtually anything else. Keeping it at or under 12 characters (including spaces) is best to prevent the dots from running into one another, a maximum of 16 characters is possible. Due to the way numbers are expressed in braille, the length of a standard date is the maximum amount of numbers I can do, that is 10 characters for a date like 12.25.2015. Standard punctuation marks are fine as well, but symbols should be avoided.

The wood piece measures 2" x 3/8". The wood is sourced from urban trees cut due to circumstance, whether disease, construction, or nuisance -- not from trees cut for their timber value. It is currently available in black cherry wood from yard trees in western Michigan, Missouri. The wood is protected with a food safe hand rubbed oil finish.

Utilizing yard trees for wood is one of the most eco-friendly and sustainable ways to source lumber as it does not contribute to deforestation or environmental destruction.
