This is a solid wood keychain made from sustainable wood. The wood is sourced from urban trees cut due to circumstance, whether disease, construction, or nuisance -- not from trees cut for their timber value. It is currently available in black cherry wood that was sourced from yard trees in western Michigan, Missouri, and is protected with a hand rubbed oil finish.

The braille dots are cut all the way through the wood, rather than being raised as is traditional. It gives the keychain a very unique appearance because light easily passes through the holes. It is worth noting that the holes are a bit harder to feel than raised braille; if this item is intended to be functional for a blind person, please make sure to contact me so that I can make it large enough to be readily felt.

The example braille message shown says "Noah & Simon", referring to my dear 18 year old cat, but the braille message can be completely customized to be names, dates, or virtually anything else. Keeping it at or under 12 characters (including spaces) is best to prevent the dots from running into one another, a maximum of 16 characters is possible. Due to the way numbers are expressed in braille, the length of a standard date is the maximum amount of numbers I can do, that is 10 characters for a date like 12.25.2015. Standard punctuation marks are fine as well, but symbols should be avoided.
